Private Birdwatching & Wildlife Tours in The Gambia and Senegal
Let your dreams be your wings
Hi , I am Dallu Barry.
My passion for birds and wildlife started at a very young age while growing up in a small village surrounded by nature. Every morning I woke up to the beautiful melodies of birds, and those sounds became part of my life. As a young boy, I spent many hours exploring the fields, forests, and riverbanks, watching birds and learning about nature.
Over the years, that childhood curiosity turned into a lifelong passion. Today, I am proud to share my knowledge and love for birds and wildlife with visitors from around the world through Bird Safari Gambia. Guiding people through the incredible birdlife and natural beauty of The Gambia and Senegal is not just my work — it is truly my passion.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What does a birdwatching tour in the Gambia include?
Every tour is a fully private birdwatching tour in the Gambia, led personally by your guide from start to finish. It includes transport, entrance fees to reserves, a flexible daily itinerary built around the birds and habitats you want to see, and local knowledge that only comes from growing up in the area. Tours can run from a single day to a full multi-day itinerary along the River Gambia.
When is the best time for birdwatching in the Gambia?
The main season runs roughly from November to April, when migratory species from Europe join the resident birds and the dry weather makes viewing easier. December to March is the peak window for a bird safari in the Gambia, but resident species can be observed year-round for travelers with more flexible dates.
Do I need previous experience to join a bird safari?
No. Tours are designed for complete beginners as well as experienced birders. Your guide adjusts the pace, the locations, and the level of detail to match the group, so a first-time birdwatching Gambia trip is just as rewarding as a specialist expedition.
How is this different from a standard wildlife tour?
This is a private, guided experience built around a genuine passion for ornithology, not a fixed-route group bus tour. Because the guide knows the reserves, forests, and riverbanks personally, sightings are far more reliable — and the pace stays entirely yours.
Can you organize a trip for just two or three people?
This is a private, guided experience built around a genuine passion for ornithology, not a fixed-route group bus tour. Because the guide knows the reserva
Yes. Most tours are designed for small, individual groups of two to three travelers, giving you close guiding and a fully flexible schedule for your Gambia and Senegal tours.
Do you also arrange trips for larger groups?
Yes, group tours are available too — typically for six to ten people. Itineraries are adjusted for group size while keeping the same focus on quality wildlife viewing.
What is the Fathala Reserve safari in Senegal?
Safari in Senegal at Fathala Wildlife Reserve is a day trip across the border where you can see giraffes, rhinos, and other large mammals alongside the region’s rich birdlife — a natural complement to a birdwatching-focused stay in the Gambia.
How do I book a tour?
Simply get in touch by phone or email with your preferred dates and group size, and a tailored itinerary will be put together for you — tours can be adjusted around the number of days and the places you most want to see.
